Blanco State Park, located about one hour from San Antonio and Austin, is a wonderful spot for a day trip with the family. Despite its small area, the park offers a wide range of activities for people of all ages. Here are some things you can do on your visit to Blanco State Park.

1. Fishing

If you want to relax and unwind, try some peaceful fishing in Blanco State Park. You may catch several fish Blanco river is home to; like anglers fish, channel catfish, rainbow trout, and sunfish. You do not need a license for fishing from shore in the park. In case you forgot your fishing rod and reels, you may rent them from the park itself.

2. Swimming

Beat the summer heat by swimming in the cool water of the Blanco River. Swimming is permitted everywhere along the river. The park offers a shallow wading pool for small children. 

3. Boating

Nothing surpasses the enjoyment of boating on a pleasant day. You can either bring your own canoe, boat, and kayak or rent one from the park.

4. Camping

Blanco State Park also features some excellent camping places. There are several full hookup sites and screened shelters that can be rented. 

5. Picnic:

The Civilian Conservation Corps erected a picnic pavilion where you can enjoy a picnic with your loved ones. The stone stairs, picnic tables, benches, stone dams, and bridges give it a beautiful vibe. 

6. Ranger Programs

The park also offers numerous programs associated with the history and the natural diversity of the park. The Blanco State Park houses many plants and trees like Ashe juniper, wildflowers, pecan, etc. You can also find various animals and birds, such as the great blue herons, red-eared sliders, river cooters, and turtles. If you are camping for the night, you might also catch a glimpse of a grey fox, white-tailed deer, raccoon, and opossum.

7. Shopping

After a fun day at the park, you might want a keepsake. If that’s the case, go to the park store and stock up on cool outfits, gift goods, and souvenirs for yourself and your loved ones.
